Winter - Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing

Snowshoe hiking

A unique natural experience in a winter landscape is snowshoe hikes with a trained guide. There are weekly tours for beginners and advanced. Detailed information, rental of snowshoes (about 5 € / pair) and guided snowshoe hikes can be found in the Tourist Information Pfronten.

Cross-country skiing

There are about 90 km of well-groomed cross-country ski trails in all levels of difficulty for cross-country skiers right in Pfronten.

Tobogganing

Originally, sledges were used in the Allgäu mountain agriculture. In the winter months, farmers had to transport the stored mountain hay from the mountain pastures down into the valley in order to feed the cattle. The original horn sleds or bowls were packed with the mountain hay as heavy transport devices because a journey into the valley was often dangerous. Today, toboggan runs on Allgäu Mountains are available for winter sports enthusiasts and families.

Alpspitze Tobogganing Run Nesselwang

Natural tobogganing run (prepared with snowcat), length: 4,000 m, height difference: 350 m. Level of difficulty: easy, medium, suitable for children. Alternatively there is a toboggan run for those who like it faster. How to get: take the chairlift to the middle station, then 10 minutes of walking.

Alpine Skiing

Breitenbergbahn with Breitenberg-Hochalpe

The high mountain ski area on the Breitenberg-Hochalpe with a four-seater chairlift, two ski lifts and two mini-lifts offers skiing fun at an altitude of 1200 up to 1677 m. The ski area is the largest and most snowy ski resort in the Ostallgäu and offers slopes for the whole family. On a 6km long slope you can ski down into the valley.

Tegelberg Cable Car

The Tegelberg Cable Car is also called the gateway to the "Ammergau Alps". It offers together with the mountain station a comprehensive view of the "Königswinkel". In winter you can use 3 ski lifts, Reithlift, Adlerlift and a lift for the little ones as well as the cable car to the 4,2 km long Tegelbeg ski slope. There is the possibility to get to the night skiing from Monday to Saturday at the Adler- and Reithlift. At the foot of the Tegelberg you have the opportunity to ski on illuminated and snow-covered 2 km-long circular trail below the castle Neuschwanstein. 30 km of cross-country ski trails can be found between the Tegelberg and Schwangau.
